Preparation

For my music video I do not need many props, however I do need:
  • Rope
  • Medication
  • Clothing
  • Makeup
I purchased rope from amazon using my own money. I wanted to use rope so that it is similar to the music video "This Is Gospel" by Panic! At The Disco, which is an inspiration to me. The rope arrived within a week, and I experienced no problems with Amazon.

The medication I will display in my music video is Amitriptyline, Co-codamol and Paracetamol.

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant. It affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression, and therefore treats the symptoms of depression. The packet used in the music video is prescripted for me, however this is to assist with headaches and not with depression.

Co-codamol and Paracetamol are painkillers, and in extreme cases, taking too much paracetamol may lead to: encephalopathy (problems with brain function), haemorrhage (bleeding), hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), cerebral oedema (fluid on the brain), or even death. The protagonist will be shown to be overdosing, and it is implied that she is experiencing these symptoms.

As my music video will have two interviewing narratives, I need two sets of clothing. The first narrative is the real world, and in it, the protagonist is overdosing on medication. For this, she will wear red and will have natural makeup. Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red is a very emotionally intense color, and therefore will have more connotations than any other colour.

During the second narrative, the protagonist will wear black and have heavy makeup, as this is within her mind. Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery. It is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown, it usually has a negative connotation.

I have used the two most negative colours for the protagonist to wear, which displays my vision perfectly.
